I don't remember how many it takes but it's not that hard to do.Ģ. Feed rainbow drops to the Father Tim statue until it has an icon of a King Tim above its head. These are the steps you have to take to get the Ultima Tim:ġ. I don't think you need the Tim to be wearing the Balan hat, that might have been a coincidence that happened to the first person who uploaded a video about this. OK, quoting you again because I finally figured out the exact steps. If you're nostalgic for those kind of games then it's probably worth playing. Never reaches the same highs as something like Billy Hatcher but definitely has that same vibe, plenty of style and jank in equal measures. The ultra negative reception is mostly weird because it really is just a mid-2000s platformer thrust into modern day, very reminiscent of Sonic Team's stuff from that era. The game would lose nothing and gain so much more playability.

The game would be significantly better if costumes were permanently added to your inventory once found, you could swap between them instantly, all of them could jump and use a separate button to activate their ability, and you had a normal health system rather than losing costumes when you take damage. The main issue is that everything they did to make the game "simple" actually just overcomplicates it.

The soundtrack is also pretty decent, probably nothing you'd jam out to outside of the game like with Sonic music but it all fits the atmosphere really well. There are some irritating parts like Balan's Bouts but I still plan to 100% it. It's fun to find all the different powers, the level design is basic but has a lot of secrets and fun ways to sequence break, and it's got a solid amount of content. I think I'd personally give it a 6 or 7, it's a decent platformer overall. I'll be annoyed if Square just dumps this instead of fixing it.

Tims balan wonderworld Patch#

This game is one patch away from being something I could actually recommend to platformer fans without hesitation. It's just another example of the game sabotaging itself with something that would be incredibly easy to change and would make the game far more fun. If you mess up (which is super easy to do since the timing is very strict) you can't quit out of the long QTE, and the only way to retry the bout is to go fight the world boss again to make all the hats in that world respawn.įinding a Balan's Bout usually takes some effort in the first place, so I don't see why you shouldn't get a statue for simply completing it, or at the very least only be required to get a Great rating. The game is generally pretty breezy so I don't mind some difficulty, but this isn't hard so much as it is needlessly punishing. It was fine when there was one hat per level and four QTEs in each bout, but starting in World 5 there are two hats per level, in World 9 onwards there are THREE hats per level, and the amount of QTEs in each start increasing. Getting every statue isn't required to beat the game, but to get 100% completion, you have to perfect every Balan's Bout.

You get a bonus multiplier on the drops you've collected if you time it right, as well as a statue (the game's main collectible) if you get an "Excellent" rank on every QTE. Balan does a pose and you have to press the button exactly when his shadow appears over him. At World 11, I'm still enjoying the game but there is one mechanic that's becoming noticeably obnoxious: Balan's Bouts.įor those who don't know, Balan's Bouts are little QTE segments activated by touching a Balan hat.
